The 17th annual BirdGuides Photo of the Year is here – and the winner will be decided by you.
The 52 winning images of 2022 have been whittled down to a shortlist of 10 through a careful process of deliberation by the BirdGuides and Birdwatch team. This year's was a another close affair, with around half of the year's winners making it into the team's collective shortlists – perfectly demonstrating the subjectiveness of photography.
However, we're finally in agreement with the choices we've come up with. Now it's up to you to choose your favourite from the selection below and cast your vote. You can see the shortlisted images below.
As with previous years, we've been left amazed by the quality of our contributors' uploads throughout the year, as a look through the Photo of the Week gallery will show. A heartfelt thanks goes to all our contributors, who continue to make this long-running competition of the highest quality by taking the time to post their superb images in our galleries each week. You make the website such a brilliant place to visit!
Please note that voting will close at midnight on Sunday 26 February, with the winner announced in the April issue of Birdwatch.
